Our Lady of Guadalupe image survived the house fire untouched
Our house in Guadalajara caught fire in the middle of the night from an electrical fault. We barely escaped with our lives. My husband carried our youngest through the window while I grabbed the other two children. The fire department arrived, but the house was a total loss. Everything we owned was destroyed. The walls were black. The furniture was ash. The roof had caved in. But when the firefighters let us back in to survey the damage, we found something that stopped everyone in their tracks. The framed image of Our Lady of Guadalupe that hung in our living room was completely untouched. The wall behind it was charred black. The nail it hung on had melted. But the frame, the glass, and the image were perfect. Not even smoke damage. The fire chief took photos. He said in twenty years he had never seen anything like it. We lost everything in that fire, but we did not lose her. She reminded us that she was still with us. That image now hangs in our new home, and every morning we thank her.
