History
Tradition holds it was brought to Trier by Helena, mother of Constantine. It has been kept in Trier Cathedral since at least the 12th century. Public expositions occur rarely — the last was in 2012.
Scientific Investigation
Limited scientific testing has been performed. The fabric is consistent with ancient textile production methods.
Spiritual Significance
One of the most important relics in Germany, drawing millions during rare public expositions.
