A bloodstained cloth measuring 84 x 53 cm, believed to be the cloth wrapped around the head of Jesus after death, as mentioned in John 20:6-7.
History
Tradition traces it from Jerusalem through North Africa to Spain in the 7th century. It has been kept in the Cámara Santa of Oviedo Cathedral since at least the 8th century.
Scientific Investigation
Blood type AB, matching the Shroud of Turin. Pollen analysis shows species from Palestine, North Africa, and Spain, consistent with its traditional journey. The stain patterns are consistent with a crucified man. Some researchers argue the blood patterns correlate with those on the Shroud.
Spiritual Significance
Its correlation with the Shroud of Turin provides potential corroborating evidence for both relics.
