The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared under the title 'Reconciler of People and Nations' to Maria Esperanza Medrano de Bianchini and numerous other witnesses at a farm called Finca Betania near Cua, Venezuela. On one occasion in 1984, over 100 people simultaneously witnessed a public apparition of the Virgin. The apparitions were accompanied by extraordinary phenomena including stigmata, a bleeding Eucharistic host, and numerous healings.

History

Maria Esperanza, a Venezuelan mystic, first received apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary on March 25, 1976, at a farm called Finca Betania. The apparitions continued for 15 years through January 1990, totaling 31 appearances. The most remarkable event occurred on March 25, 1984, when over 100 people claimed to simultaneously witness the Virgin Mary appearing above a grotto at the farm. Bishop Pio Bello Ricardo of Los Teques investigated and approved the apparitions in 1987. Maria Esperanza also experienced stigmata and other mystical phenomena. Her cause for canonization was opened in 2010.
